Live Art with Hanna Lemoine

Hanna's hometown, the barrier island of Grand Isle Louisiana, is the fastest disappearing place on earth. Between coastal erosion, hurricanes, sea levels rising, and the greatest oil disaster in history, my storm ravaged home has a unique relationship with nature. The landscape of our coast is constantly in flux. In her paintings she hopes to express this fluctuating environment while capturing a landscape that will soon disappear.

This Saturday Hanna will be bringing her studio to Palace Market. Watch Hanna create her colorful, powerful landscapes and learn more about her inspirations. Her work will be available for purchase along with 37 other local artists vendors.

This Saturday night, watch Nurhan create a series of watercolor paintings influenced by the early Japanese tradition of ink washes, brush strokes and mark-making. He will use the synchronicity between water and pigment to create landscapes of fauna and florals.

My name is Michael James.

I am a musician, front man for the band My Graveyard Jaw. Toured for many many years. I quit drinking 3 years ago , stopped playing music (for now) and in my crazy sobriety I found leather making. Live Art Saturday with JimmyRockIt

Leather looks so much better when it's been worn. Each Jimmyrockit item will mature and age with time developing unique characteristics. Wear your leather with pride and let it reflect your uniqueness to the world by showing its individuality. Life is a vibrant adventure and I strive to make it more colorful and interesting. This leatherwork reflects personality and connects with folks who share a similar path. I'm inspired in life by vintage sounds, textures, and smells. By scratches and pops of vinyl records and old leather boots with scuffs and markings. I love seasoned pots and pans with patina and war era cedar trunks. My deep bond with all things vintage and ageless reminds me that all kick-ass quality items from the past had to start somewhere. I aspire to connect with folks and make timeless items that will age and ooze character every time it's worn.

Live Art Saturday with Animal Monkey

Russian-born, Detroit-raised, and Nola-based artist, Oleg Kolbasov illuminates the dark subconscious with his eerie portrayals of figures and symbolism derived of his experiences and imagination. With a consistent color palate and a high attention to detail, he invites viewers to look within themselves, often prompting a positive proclamation to an image initially viewed as gloomy. His illustrations begin as pencil renderings before scanning and coloring digitally.

During this live art session he will be breaking from his usual illustrative process and applying paintbrush to canvas.

Come see him this Saturday to get a peek into his process!

Live Art Saturday with Ten Six Studios

Ty is a van-life artist who specializes in pyrography (wood-burning). Through his travels around the country he has found inspiration from every part of each experience--whether it be the people he meets, the magic and freedom of the festival world (where he works in psychedelic harm-reduction), or the simple quiet beauty of nature. It is his hope that through his art he can honor the wonder of creation, and inspire more people to follow their own magic. Repurposing is very important to his beliefs, so each piece of wood used is found in nature or from recycled material.

Live Art Saturday with Passion Lilie

Katie Schmidt, designer and owner of Passion Lilie, will be demonstrating her pattern making process. You may be asking what is pattern making? In this case we are not referring to the fabric, but to the silhouette of the garment. The pattern is a paper template, made to the actual size of the garment that is then used to cut out and stitch the actual garment. I like to compare pattern making to an architect who creates the plans for a house. A lot of math and understanding of the curves of the body is involved in pattern making.
